Rocking the suburbs

Well, not really, because I’ll be in the city on Sunday. Sadly, Saturday won’t work for me, unless something is happening in the NW ‘burbs after 6 PM—I’ve got a work appointment at 4.

Ok, so there’s lunch at noon on Sunday. But what else?

Some possibilities come to mind:

1. The Blackhawks will be playing the Detroit Red Wings at 6 PM. The ‘Hawks stink this year, so getting tickets to get in would be easy—and I could easily be talked into this option.

2. Riding around on the el. Yeah, it’s another one of my goals. Also gives you a sense of how huge the city is. Brown line anyone?

3. Any museum. The Field Museum of Natural History is a blast and, for added fun, sits right next to the Shedd Aquarium and the Adler Planetarium. There’s a map exhibition going on in lots of places downtown. That could be very interesting. I might go do this anyway, this weekend or another.

4. People watching. Anywhere. Always a scream. But not shopping. There isn’t much I could buy here that I can’t get cheaper at home (sales tax is high in the city). Millennium Park is always good for this.
