Not taking children for granted

It can be really hard. After all, small children can try the patience of even the most patient soul. (And I hear older children out and out abuse that patience.)

The daughter of a fellow teacher (and of a mother of one of Little Girlʻs playmates) committed suicide last week. Tragic and without sense.

That familyʻs tragedy has brought the true fragility of human life into sharp focus. It has challenged me to consciously treasure each day with my daughter. They are after all fleeting.
