I suppose I had always noticed, but when you sit and make a point of watching all the Bond movies it becomes very obvious. There’s a formula. Maybe all movie series are like this, but I dont’ think I’m going to be watching the Police Academy movies any time soon. Nor horror franchises. In any event, I enjoy the formula. Especially the exotic locations. Even more when I’ve been to those exotic locations—though the Vegas in Diamonds are Forever is hardly the Vegas I saw earlier this year.
Now for my list of who is the best Bond:
6. Roger Moore – He seemed to think Bond was campy too. Bonus feature: a creepy old guy/too-young woman match in his later films.
5. Timothy Dalton – I never got the sense that he thought he was Bond.
4. Pierce Brosnan – Fun to watch with some great car chases. Did I mention that I love a good car chase?
3. George Lazenby – I really loved On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Lots.
2. Daniel Craig – Cooler than cool. I hope the next Bond movie is as good as Casino Royale.
1. Sean Connery – Like anyone else is really Bond. Goldfinger is my favorite of the lot. I’ve probably seen it ten times if I’ve seen it once.
